Lord Ilsley Racing

First set up in 2007, Lord Ilsley Racing is undoubtedly the most dignified syndicate in the sport of kings.

Alfredtheordinary started the ball rolling, allowing the inaugural members to travel the length and breadth of the country as Alfred clocked up sixteen runs in his juvenile season. All this culminated in an unforgettable Sunday afternoon at Kempton Park where the "Ordinary One" finally broke his duck in a pillar to post victory under Sam Hitchcott.

The sixteen members there that day not only doubled the attendance, but almost lifted the roof off the stand. It was a moderate contest featuring moderate animals, but it set a precedent that remains to this day.

Alphabeth, Alfalevva, Alphacino, Raimond Ridge, Alfraamsey, Prophet in a Dream and Master Macho, have all followed in Alfred's wake having carried the famous yellow and black silks with distinction, allowing LIR Members to do what they do best - go racing and enjoy the fun that can be gleamed from the sport for a modest outlay.

What began as a group of friends expanded to include friends of friends. Then friends of friends of friends and so on.

Today, Lord Ilsley Racing is far more professionally organised than it was at it's inception, but we hope that the core values remain in place. Racing is about trying to win without fear of failure and that's exactly what Mick and the West Ilsley Team have done.

2010 saw all three of the horses win their maidens which included scooping the £10,000 Yearling Bonus. We also had our first runner at Glorious Goodwood before selling all three on for a profit and reinvesting in 2011, a year that saw more success on the track and many more miles covered as Triggerlo brought the gold and black silks back to the winner's enclosure.

Plenty has happened in a very short space of time. The Aussie Rules Colt has become the Aussie Rules Gelding and has been back in full work since mid January. The Piccolo Colt has thrived, both look to be going the right way and the season seems to be getting ever closer.

A delighted Jane and Terry Smart were at the Roodeye to collect the cheque as Master Macho finally got his head in front. The Macho Man won at the 13th time of asking under Matthew Davies on a monumental day for LIR members.

Lord Ilsley Racing members were in raptures. Success at last for the ultra consistent but luckless ALFRAAMSEY as he wins his maiden at the sixth attempt in fine style at Newcastle.

Lord Ilsley Racing enjoyed their first win of the season as Prophet in a Dream won the Tarpan Vodka EBF Maiden Stakes with a gutsy display under Alan Munro.

After a close second at Chester the previous evening, Alphabeth was met at Warwick services on her way home and transferred to the Nottingham bound box the following morning. A pretty good decision in hindsight.

THE LEGENDARY RUSSELL BROWN
As one of LIR's Founder members, Russell Brown attained legendary status in maintaining a 100% record of attending Alfredtheordinary's races in 2007. He's still a member to this day, although one doubts if a horse will ever find a place in Russell's heart like Alf did.
